Description
An 18th Century Caved Coquilla Nut Snuff Box / Vinaigrette. The hinged rectangular cushion lid intricately pierced with a mass of finely detailed scrolling foliage. The underside relief carved with a soldier to the centre flanked by a man & lady; the front & back edges depicting a pair of winged angels flanking a bust on a finely crosshatched ground. The floriate carved ends capped with further well detailed figures: a man strumming a lute to one end and a lady with lyre to the other, 1” (2.5 cm) high, 3½” (9 cm) long 1¾” (4.5 cm) deep.
