Description
A Large Continental Carved Oak Secrètaire Cabinet, profusely decorated in the renaissance style with lavish scrolls of seeding foliage, birds, cherubic figures and bold figural pilasters to the base. The upper section having a moulded cornice with breakfront corners above angel head corbels flanking a shallow frieze drawer and fall-down front opening to reveal a fitted interior with various figured walnut veneered drawers inlaid with feather banding and framed by D-moulding surrounding a rosewood veneered cupboard door edged with beading. The base section housing two drawers carved Anno 1651 below a faux drawer, flanked by breakfornt pilasters in the form of female figures bearing fruit upon their heads with a bull and lion at their feet. The sides adorned with cherubic face masks and saints. 72¼” (184 cm) high, 48” (122 cm) wide, 24” (61 cm) deep.
