A 15th Century French Gothic Cuir Boulli Casket. The dome topped box of rectangular form clad in decoratively tooled leather on a wooden carcase, bound in iron straps with a decorative band of pierced quatrefoils to the front above the iron hasp and lockplate. The hinged lid with a twisted swing handle. The interior lined in woodcut engraved paper with later collector’s label stuck ontop, 5” (13 cm) high [handle down] 7” (19 cm) wide, 4” (10 cm) deep.
