Elizabeth’s worked in coloured threads with trees, baskets of fruit, flowering plants, small birds and animals under a heading stitched in black; ‘Every Plant and Flower sets Fourth Gods Power’ with verse below entitled ‘Friendship’; ‘Tell my ye knowing and discerning few, Where I may find a both form and true, Who dare stand by me when in deep distress, And them his love and Friendship most express’, set in a mahogany frame inlaid with stringing and fitted with a suspension ring to the top, 18½” x 15” (47 cm x 38 cm). Margaret’s worked in coloured silk threads with plants and floral motifs, interspersed with small birds and incorporating two crowns & diminutive reclining stags to the base, with verse in black; ‘Virtues the chiefest beauty of the mind, The noblest ornament of human kind, Virtues our safe guard and our guiding star, That stirs up reason when or senses err’., set in a mahogany frame with suspension ring to the top, 18” x 14¼” (46 cm x 36 cm).
