A Small 19th Century Darning Sampler dated 1884 and initialed JC with folded-over & cross-stitched border, 4¼” (11 cm) square, mounted on a glazed frame beneath a cotton panel finely stitched thrice in red with ‘PRIZE COMPETITION 1889’ and having a tacked on paper label inscribed ‘Jane Crick Fersfield Diss’. 7” x 8” (18 cm x 20 cm), the frame 17½” x 13¼” (44.5 cm x 33.5 cm).
