A Fine George III Oak & Mahogany Cross-banded Longcase Clock with eight day movement by Jon Stanyer of Nantwich. The 13” (33 cm) wide brass dial having a painted moon roller in the arch above a chapter ring with Roman numerals counting the hours and an outer ring of Arabic numerals marking five minute divisions, inscribed along the base Jon. Stanyer NANTWICH. The centre engraved with foliate scrolls around the winding holes and calendar aperture, with a bird & butterfly flnking the subsidiary seconds dial, and pierced scrolling spandrels adorning the corners. The hood with a moulded swan neck pediment with carved rosette terminals above a frieze of painted scrollwork, and stop fluted columns either side of the dial. The case with wavy topped lip moulded door to the trunk flanked by sunken quarter columns, standing on a moulded base with bracket feet, 85” (216 cm) high, 20” (51 cm) at the hood.
