Description
An Attractive 18th Century Inlaid Oak Long Case Clock with eight day Movement by Abraham Shaw of Billingborough. The 12” (30.5 cm) breakarch painted dial decorated with a polychromed rooster to the arch and birds to the spandrels, with black painted Arabic numeral hour markers to the chapter ring encircled by a ring of dots marking the minutes; asteriskes at five minute divisions, and Arabic numerals marking the quarter hours. The centre incorporating a subsidiary seconds dial, brass lined winding holes and a gilt edged calendar aperture. The hood surmounted by a dentil moulded swan neck pediment adorned with gilt brass rosettes to the terminals, above gilt capped Corinthian style columns flanking the dial. The trunk with canted, stop fluted sides flanking a lip-moulded arch topped doot inlaid with an urn of flowers in a green stained navette to the centre. Standing on a moulded base 82” (208 cm) high, 21” (53 cm) wide at the extremities.
