A Fine 19th Century Mahogany Campaign Writing Box inset with brass banded borders, recessed swing handles to the sides, a lock to the front and a plaque to the lid inscribed ‘Mrs Enderby’. The hinged lid folding over to form a writing slope with tooled leather insert. The slope enclosing a box compartment to the front with ribbon trellis card holder to the inner lid, and a locking section to the back with pen & ink compartment behind. The sides fitted with a recessed lid prop one side, and a finialed rod securing a secret side-opening drawer below to the other, 6¼” (16 cm) high, 15” (38 cm) wide, 10” (25 cm) deep.
