A Fine 16th Century North Italian Walnut Chair attributed to Brescia, Lombardy. The back composed of two broad horizontal splats with carved voluted scroll edges surrounding a central burr-figured panel of root walnut bordered in decorative bands inlaid with stringing. The square uprights surmounted by carved finials. The plank seat on square legs above scrolling seat and base rails either side of a scroll edged panel reflecting the back panels, 49 in (125 cm) high, the seat 21½ in (55 cm) high, 21 in (53 cm) wide, 15¾ in (40 cm) deep. [Very similar examples can found at the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum Milan].
