An 18th Century Swedish Painted Folk Art Trunk. The rectangular chest elaborately decorated with painted scrolls of foliage & flowers bordered with scalloped lappets on a scumbled ground incorporating the date 1715 to the front. The joints bound in shaped metal straps painted red. The hinged lid with sheet metal corner mounts pierced with heart motifs, secured by a spring loaded lock with key, 16” (41 cm) high, 31½” (80 cm) wide, 23” (58 cm) deep.
