Description
A Fine William & Mary Walnut Veneered Enclosed Chest on Chest with Secrètaire. The upper section having a moulded cornice above two cabinet doors; each displaying book veneers in a large oval panel to the centre with oyster veneered roundels to the corners, entwined by guilloche feather bands within a feather banded border and opening to reveal a fitted interior housing various sized drawers. Each drawer front furnished with a brass swing handle on an embellished punch-work mount bordered in feather banding and having twin-reed moulding to the divides. The chest base section having a fall front secrètaire drawer enclosing a bank of pigeon holes and a leather insert, above two short over two long feather banded drawers. The piece elevated on bold ball turned feet 73” (186 cm) high, 43¾” (111 cm) wide, 20” (51 cm) deep.
