A 17th Century Boarded Elm Coffer; possibly a gun chest. The plank lid on strap hinges with a run moulded front edge. The front board naively decorated with gouge carved S-scrolls encircling recessed roundels defined with black stain, flanking an infilled lock above a foliate carved lunette. Standing on supporting end planks cut with twin arched feet, 18” (46 cm) high, 44” (112 cm) wide, 14” (36 cm) deep.
