A 19th Century French Pierced Sheet Brass Fire Guard with repoussé decoration. The hammered rectangular centre panel fretted to the top with an urn of fruit and cascading foliage, and flanked by hinged side doors enriched with zoomorphic acanthus scrolls embellished with punchwork & engraving, with a similarly decorated rail attaching to the top. The side stamped CIE FSE METAUX., 36” x 37½” (93 cm x 95 cm)
