Description
A Victorian Carved Oak Bracket Clock with a conforming walnut bracket. The case having an arched pediment richly carved with fruit and flowers to the front, caryatids rising above pendant garlands of flowers and foliage to the pilasters, with peaches & roses flanking a central face mask to the plinth, and fretted panels of scrolling strapwork either side. The arched brass dial having a slow/fast and chime/silent dial to the arch above a silvered chapter ring engraved; ‘EXMD. BY WEBSTER, QUEEN VICTORIA ST. LONDON’ around the border with Roman numerals counting the hours and Arabic numerals marking five minute divisions. 19½” (50 cm) in height. The accompanying bracket 9¼” (23.5 cm) high, 10” (25.5 cm) deep, 14¼” (36 cm) wide.
