The case having an arched pediment richly carved with fruit and flowers to the front, caryatids rising above pendant garlands of flowers and foliage to the pilasters, with peaches & roses flanking a central face mask to the plinth, and fretted panels of scrolling strapwork either side. The arched brass dial having a slow/fast and chime/silent dial to the arch above a silvered chapter ring engraved; ‘EXMD. BY WEBSTER, QUEEN VICTORIA ST. LONDON’ around the border with Roman numerals counting the hours and Arabic numerals marking five minute divisions. 19½” (50 cm) in height. The accompanying bracket 9¼” (23.5 cm) high, 10” (25.5 cm) deep, 14¼” (36 cm) wide.
