A 17th Century Italian Terracotta Inkwell, probably Florentine. The brick form holder moulded in relief with depictions of ‘The Nativity’ with ‘The Adoration of the Magi’, and ‘The Circumcision’ to the front and back. The top pierced with two inkpot receptacles, the sides adorned with caryatids, the open trough form front moulded with ornamental strapwork. 3¾ in (9.5 cm) high, 6½ in (16.5 cm) wide, 6½ in (16.5 cm) deep.
