The shaped down swept lid centred by a rectangular velvet pin cushion in a moulded frame, surrounded by inlaid scrolling bands and opening to reveal pierced strap hinges, a buttoned padded velvet lined interior with a lidded serpentine front section to the back concealing a hidden compartment below. The sides marquetried with scrolling strap-work and raised on turned feet 8¼ in (21 cm) high, 12 in (30.5 cm) wide, 8 in (20 cm) deep.
