A Late 14th/15th Century Bronze Cauldron, Kubachi, Daghestan. The deep rounded cast bronze body standing on three pointed feet and having a flat out-turned rim with four shaped flanges edged with diagonal serration and embellished with a guilloche plait, scrolling foliage and decorative motifs with a band of calligraphy to one flange opposing another cast with two raised seams forming a pouring spout, and stirrup shaped handles surmounted by horn finials to the other two, 11¼” (28.5 cm) high, 18½” (47 cm) in diameter.
