Description
Two Early 19th Century French Miniature Tortoiseshell Veneered Trinket Caskets; both of rectangular form. One having a slightly domed lid inset with a small white metal plaque flanked by diagonal strings and raised on small brass feet, 1½” (3.5 cm) high, 2¾” x 1¼” (7 cm x 3 cm). The other with a cushion lid centred by a white metal plaque emitting radial strings to the corners and adorned with cut steel studs, standing on turned bone feet (one missing) 1¼” (3 cm) high, 2½” x 1¼” (6.5 cm x 3 cm).*
