An Early 18th Century Oak Country Wainscot Chair. The shaped cresting rail gouge carved with naive outlines of a pair of birds to the top enhanced with punch-work feathers, amidst voluted S-scrolls of stylised foliage defined against a pitted ground. The carved S-scroll designs repeated to the back on a horizontal upper panel above twin base panels. The arms resting on baluster posts leading to a low plank seat standing on baluster legs united by peripheral stretchers, 42” (107 cm) high, 22½” (57 cm) wide, 14½” (37 cm) seat height.
