Description
After Clodion (French, 1738-1814). A Fine 19th Century Bronze Bacchanalian Figure Group mounted on an ebonised pedestal with gilt metal mounts. The richly patinated bronze group depicting two dancing nymphs and a faun on a round base scattered with vine, pan-pipes and Thyrsus, signed Clodion and stamped with numbers 1352, 29½” (75 cm) in height. The pedestal having a turned circular top with gilt mounted collar of undulating foliate scrolls above a fluted column adorned with recessed strings of bell flowers and beading, leading down to the scotia moulded plinth base, 42½” (108 cm) approx 16” (41 cm) in diameter. Combined height with bronze 72” (183 cm).
