Description
A Japanese Lacquered Wooden Hokkai Box, Meiji Period. The cylindrical body with ribbed sides and a slightly domed lift-off lid, decorated with gilt fans on a black lacquered ground and adorned with engraved brass mounts. The box raised on four rounded upright supports with outflared feet, two opposing supports pierced with handle holes to the top. 16½” (42 cm) high, 14½” (37 cm) in diameter.
