A Rare Late 19th Century Doulton Lambeth Stoneware Mantel Clock. The circular case relief moulded with the stages of man to the facade depicted in olive glaze on a scrolling foliate ground, with incised decoration to the sides enhanced with blue, ochre & green glaze, and intricate moulded ornamentation to the back. The piece raised on outswept scroll feet and housing a French movement by Japy Freres & Cie, striking a bell, with an elaborately cast gilt metal dial inset with porcelain numeral cartouches. The underside having impressed Doulton Lambeth mark, 1881, incised 853 with Mary Ann Thomson and Elizabeth M Small incised marks, 10½” (27 cm) high.
