The dark richly patinated slightly domed lid opening to reveal a painted interior with a compass dial to the centre of the lid’s underside flanked by two wrythen roundel motifs. The through dovetail jointed box painted with a further whorl motif to the front below an iron diamond shaped escutcheon. Standing on rail feet (40 c,m) high, (84 cm) wide, (41 cm) deep.
