A Rare Late 17th Century Dated Oak Desk Box/Cabinet of unusual design. The top having a raised section to the back with a hinged fall front secured by lock & key beneath a cornice moulding. The box section below having a sloped lid on iron butterfly hinges with a moulded book ledge, opening to reveal stepped cubby holes and drawers either side of a sliding lid enclosing a station well to the frieze, with a long drawer below. The front carved with initials GR and date 1687 defined against a recessed pitted ground. 20½” (52 cm) high, 23½” (60 cm) wide, 19” (48 cm) deep.
