Description
Two 18th/19th Century Painted Oval Bentwood Boxes bound in iron straps. The larger box with residual red paintwork, having a wrythen iron swing handle to the planked slightly domed lid, and a lock and key with iron diamond shaped escutcheon to the front above a moulded base, 10” (26.5 cm) high [handle down]. 18½” (47 cm) wide, 14” (35 cm) deep. The smaller scumble-glazed box with swing handle to the lid and ring handles either side, a lock with key securing the lid, opening to reveal a re-painted interior with date 1821 above sprays of flowers. 9½” (24 cm) high, 16 x 12” (42 cm x 30 cm).
