A Large Bretby Painted Terracotta Figure of an Alpine Boy, circa 1910. The boy depicted playing a recorder, wearing a wide brimmed hat, fur jerkin and breeches with a satchel embellished with coins slung over his shoulder, marked `Bretby’ with model number 877 on base. 31½” (80 cm) high. The boy sat on a Late 19th Century Welsh Carved Oak Back-Stool monogramed and dated 1893. The splat back pierced and carved with zoomorphic strap-work entwined in scrolling foliage. The octagonal seat carved with a carved shield dated 1893 and monogramed WD, standing on turned legs 30½” (78 cm) high, the seat 11½” (29 cm) high, 11” (28 cm) wide.
