Description
An Early 19th Century Alder & Ash Rush Seat Spindle-back Chair attributed to the North West Region, Circa 1800-1840. The crested top rail above two rows of five baluster turned spindles between round turned uprights. The shaped arms on short turned posts leading down to the rush seat with protective wooden edging strips, on stout turned front legs with pad & squat ball feet, united by a bold ball knopped front stretchers and plain round turned stretchers to the sides and rear, 38½” (98 cm) high, 21” (54 cm) wide, the seat 13¾” (35 cm) high.*
