The lid on iron strap hinges with fleur-de-lys terminals incised with embellishments and having a swing handle to the centre flanked by a pair of carved winged angels holding between them a crowned shield, framed in a border of Tudor roses. The back & front boards carved with mythical beasts holding a heart to the back and flanking a box lock to the front, with leaping stags adorning the sides, 5¾” (14.5 cm) high, 12½” (32 cm) wide, 7½” (19 cm) deep.*
