Description
A Small Late 16th/Early 17th Century Boarded Oak Coffer. The lid on iron wire hinges, with run-moulded bands to the front and rear edge, with chip carved engrailing to the sides. The front fitted with an iron repoussé lock plate decorated with Gothic arches above lattice panels, with trefoiled corners and two pierced keyholes (lacking lock). The end boards having cut-in feet 18” (46 cm) in height, 25½” (65 cm) wide, 13½” (34 cm) deep.
