A Fine 18th Century Dutch Marquetry Box of rectangular form. The top having ebonised edge moulding framing a sliding lid inlaid with flowers and insects; a moth, snail and fly with a pair of pelicans with fish in their bills to the top, framed in a chequer band. The lid sliding back to reveal a partitioned section or six compartments lined with padded velvet; the side sliding up to access two secret drawers below, lined in marbled paper with a further compartment concealed behind the centre divider. The sides inlaid with compass stars in diagonally chequer bands edged with stringing.*
