An Impressive North European Renaissance Oak Dressoir (A/F). The deep moulded breakfront cornice above baluster turned columns enriched with acanthus and flanking two arcaded cupboard doors either side of an arched niche containing a female figure holding a casket & money bag. The panel doors richly carved with old testament allegories inscribed along the arched tops;’HISTORIA VAN SVSANNA’ and ‘DANIEL SPRACK DE SCHONHEIT HEET DIBED’ dated 1544. The sides composed of twin vertical panels over single horizontal panels of linen fold carving. The frieze housing two moulded drawers centred by relief carved lion heads encircled by laurel wreaths amidst scrolls of zoomorphic foliage, flanking a relief carved man’s head protruding from the centre panel. The stand embellished with sweeping foliage to the apron rails, raised on block stiles with baluster columns to the facade leading down to a moulded plinth raised on the backs of recumbent lions, 67” (170 cm) high, 60½” (154 cm) wide, 27½” (70 cm) deep.
