Description
Two Late 19th/Early 20th Century Carved Oriental Boxes of rectangular form. The largest having a hinges lid centred by a relief carved bird with a spray of flowers and foliage in its beak flanked by scrolling dragons amidst auspicious symbols, with bamboo moulded edges and further dragons scrolling around the sides, 4” (10 cm) high, 12¾” (32 cm) wide, 8” (20 cm) deep. The smaller sandalwood box with a sunken panel carved in relief to the lid depicting a figural scene, and sprays of foliage to the sides, 4” (10 cm) high, 9½” (24 cm) wide, 6¾” (17 cm) deep.
