Description
A Musical Mahogany Longcase Clock striking eight bells. The 10¼” (26 cm) wide brass dial having a silvered roundel inscribed Robt. Best London to the arch above a silvered chapter ring with black Roman numeral hour marks and an outer minutes track marked at five minute intervals with Arabic numerals. The centre enriched with foliate scroll engraving, the arch adorned with scrolling seahorse mounts above face mask spandrels to the corners. The elaborately carved case having a swan neck pediment, fluted columns flanking the dial, strapwork carving to the frieze above a triple arch topped trunk door flanked by quarter columns, standing on a flame figured base with ogee bracket feet 85” (216 cm) in height.
