A 19th Century Oak and Inlaid Mahogany Longcase Clock with eight day movement striking a bell. The 11¾” (30 cm) wide brass dial having a silvered roundel to the arch inscribed; ‘Heare do wee find our minutes be measurd by Ingenuity each wheele does move and bell Chime as Pleased the Maker Nicholas Himes Helstone’, and flanked by scrolling gilt dolphin mounts. The silvered chapter ring with black Roman numerals and fleur de lys half hour markers in-between, encircled by a minute track with Arabics at 5 minute intervals. The matted centre incorporating a subsidiary seconds dial and a calendar aperture enriched with engraving to the surround. The hood with ornately cast rosette mounts to the swan-neck pediment, and fluted side columns flanking the dial. The mahogany lip-moulded trunk door inlaid with a satinwood urn to the centre and stringing, flanked by sunken quarter columns. The base with further inlay embellishments on ogee bracket feet 86½” (220 cm) high, 20” (51 cm) wide.
