Description
A 19th Century Automaton Oak & Mahogany Longcase Clock with eight-day movement, striking on the hour and half hour, by Charles Denham of Durham, Circa 1820-40. The 13¼ inch (34 cm) wide painted dial decorated with a huntsman in landscape flanked by spaniels bounding to the swing of the pendulum to the arch and further hunting scenes painted to the corners, with subsidiary seconds and calendar dials to the centre. The domed hood having a scroll-crested silhouette-cut pediment surmounted by a gilt brass eagle & ball finial to the centre and ball finials either side, above turned side spindles. The case with an arched trunk door flanked by sunken quarter columns, 91½ ins (232 cm) overall in height.
