Description
A Late 16th Century Painted Sheet Iron Casket Circa 1580. The rectangular lid having studded strap hinges adorned with rosette mounts, with a central hasp concealing a keyhole and scalloped bands to the borders. The interior displaying a fine locking mechanism with brass rosette appliqués, and a lidded box fitted to one end. The front with faux escutcheon, the side with swing handles. Standing on a deep wavy cut base with pierced roundels adorning the front and bracket feet, 11 in (28 cm) high, 14 in (36 cm) wide, 7 in (18 cm) deep.
