Four 19th Century Nursery Plates; each with a transfer printed scene; ‘My Tippoo’ depicting a boy & dog with verse; ‘Then as he grew in strength and size, Who watch’d with eager whine my eyes, And seem’s my ever thought to prize’, in a relief moulded border of flowers and foliage 5½” (14 cm) in diameter. ‘The School Boy’ bat printed with boy ‘Going to School’ above verse ‘The satchel on his back you see, The first in School the last to flee, And always he’ll never a Truant be’, in a moulded border clobbered in yellow, ochre, green and black enamels, 6” (15.5 cm) in diameter. ‘My Governess’ with verse; ‘Who watch’d my path by night and day, Lest harm should lead my mind astray, And made me for my parents pray’ in a moulded laurel border 5¾” (14.5 cm) in diameter. And a small bat printed dish depicting ‘The Dungangler’ fishing with dung beetle bait, 3½” (9 cm) in diameter.
