A 19th Century Friesland Painted Folk Art Turner’s Chair. The five decoratively turned back spindles tapering down to a ball & fillet turned base rail and surmounted by a shaped cresting rail topped with three ball finials, naively carved with birds flanking a floral wreath encircling initials FGH and date 1826. The turned uprights surmounted by finials. The flat shaped arm rests above further decorative spindles with turned & chip carved front posts leading down to the plank seat and on to form the legs united by two tiers of pole stretchers. The piece with residual red paintwork, 41” (104 cm) high, 23” (58.5 cm) wide.
