A Pair of Late Elizabethan Anglo/Flemish Oak Carved Heraldic Lions Sejant, Circa 1590-1600. The splendid beasts depicted with long curly manes tumbling down over defined rib-structures, each sat on their haunches bearing a shield with countersunk holes & residual paintwork indicating where armorial emblems had been. Carved from single blocks 17” (44 cm) high, 4½” (11.5 cm) wide, 5” (13 cm) deep.
