Description
A Victorian Black Lacquered Papier-mâché Work Box on pedestal stand. The shaped rectangular box fitted with a partitioned lift-out tray enclosed by a hinged lid with a painted panel to the top depicting a floral bouquet inlaid with mother-of-pearl, and bordered with gilt embellishments. The turned baluster pedestal having a petalled flange and gilded leaves rising from the moulded base collar above a quadriform platform on small scroll feet, 29” (74 cm) high, 15¾” x 11” (40 cm x 28 cm).
