Description
A Highly Decorative 19th Century Sheraton Revival Painted Satinwood Cabinet of Break-front form. The top lavished with three panels centred by fanned motifs within chains of flowers and opulent foliate crested scrolls issuing rosettes, framed by rosewood cross-banding outlined with strings of boxwood and ebony, and edged with intricate beading. The frieze housing three drawers with Royal Letter Patent Levers Safety locks above cupboard doors; each centred by an oval Vernis Martin style panel edged with beading, with urns of swagged drapery, pendant garlands and foliate scrolls to the surrounds, and zoomorphic swans amidst voluted foliage to the frieze. The pilasters carved with pendant chains of bell-flowers headed by paterae enriched with gilding. The base carved with foliate scroll apron rails and terminating on bracket feet, 40¼” (102 cm) high, 66” (168 cm) wide, 20¾” (53 cm) deep.
