The sliding lid engraved with a bottle, drinking glasses and a punchbowl surmounting a scrolling cartouche inscribed ”Tho: Poole, Coachman to his Grace the Duke of BEAUFORT 1772”. The maker’s name W Hawkes to the interior. The underside intricately pierced with perforations, 5” x 2½” (13 cm x 6 cm).
