Description
An Impressive Carved & Inlaid Oak Full Tester Bed in the 17th Century Style incorporating some period elements. The tester composed of five rows of four plain panels edged with canopy moulding ornamented with a frieze of applied fretwork. The head board surmounted by dentil moulding above three foliate carved upper panels divided by scrolling corbels, three elaborately decorated principal panels over a candle ledge with carved rails and plain base panels below. The main central panel relief carved with a male head portrait protruding from a laurel wreath flanked by zoomorphic scrolls. The side panels inlaid with flowering plants. The foot ports adorned with bold foliate carved cup and gadrooned cover bulbs pegging onto square base posts enriched with inlay, and bridged by a panel foot board with marquetry decoration framed in deep chip-carved moulding. 78½” (200 cm) high, 90” (228 cm) long, 56½” (143 cm) wide.
