A Fine Charles I Oak Wainscot Chair. The panel back richly carved with a guilloche quatrefoil knot encircling a central flower head between an upper & lower band inscribed JOHN LUND 1636 defined against recessed nail pittted ground. The shaped cresting rail carved with foliate scrolls flanked by voluted lobes above scrolling spandrels. The silhouette cut scroll-end arms on reel turned posts leading down to the planked seat with chip carved sides. Standing on turned legs united by peripheral stretchers 43¼” (110 cm) high, 22” (56 cm) wide, the seat 17” (43 cm) high.
