A Fine 19th Century French Transitional Style Marble-topped Marquetry Commode Chest. The bow-front sienna marble top (A/F) having breakfront rounded corners above two long drawers mounted with an ornamental cast bronze frieze band of linked roundels and fitted with laurel wreath handles on wrythen rosette mounts, and ribbon bow escutcheons. The facade elaborately inlaid with trellis work incorporating floral sprigs and quatrefoils to the centre, within broad mahogany bands outlined with stringing flanked by inlaid bouquets of flowers either side. The piece standing on cabriole legs adorned with pendant bell-flower chains tapering down to lion paw sabots, 33” (84 cm) high, 44” (112 cm) wide, 21” (53 cm) deep.
