A Superb Early 18th Century Fruitwood Knitting Sheath of fine colour and patination . The hasp enriched with intricate reel turning between chip carved block knops. The curved back inscribed with a charming motto ”KNIT AND SOW, REAP AND SING, YOU AR FIT TO SARF A KING”, the front carved with initials ”SH” and dated 1729, 5¾” (14.5 cm) in length.
