Description
A Pair of Fine 17th Century Joined Oak Chairs attributed to Yorkshire, Circa 1675. The backs having two arch-topped splats with scalloped upper edging and a straight lower edge pierced with a pendant trefoil motif to the centre below a carved face mask flanked by carved voluted scrollwork. The uprights adorned with split spindle appliqués; each chair with different turning, and having scroll cut lobe finials enriched with punchwork and cross-hatching. The plank seats in raised frames with ball turned legs united by baluster & reel turned front stretchers and plain rails to the sides and rear, 40½” (103 cm) high, the seats 16” (42 cm) high, 18” (46 cm) wide.
