A 17th Century Joined Oak Coffer. The quadruple panelled lid in a run moulded frame, on iron staple hinges, opening to reveal a lidded candle box within. The twin panel sides carved with lozenge motifs between guilloche rails. The four front panels emblazoned with daisy-wheels contained in lozenges emitting spurs to the corners embellished with chip carved whorls. The frieze rail, base rail and stiles decorated with guilloche bands incorporating wrythen rosettes, 28” (71 cm) high, 54” (137.5 cm) wide, 22” (56 cm) deep.
