Tempera on Arched Oak Panel: A Posthumous Portrait of Henry lV of England, wearing red chaperon, jewel encrusted robes trimmed with ermine over armoured sleeves, and holding a scepter with fleur-de-lys finial. 34” x 22½” (86 cm x 57 cm). Contained within an elaborately carved frame enclosing an arched mount with painted gilt tracery spandrels, and incorporating a pierced bulge front band of undulating vine issuing berries and quatrefoils, 34¾” x 22½” (88.5 cm x 70 cm).
