Description
A Rare Mid 17th Century Band Sampler, worked in maroon, green and light blue silks on linen with bands of stylised flora, detached motifs and alphabet running along the side, and initialed MG. [A very similar example was sold at Kerry Taylor Auctions in 2017; like this example it had the alphabet sideways on the sampler with the very idiosyncratic ‘Z’] Set in an old, but probably not original frame, 17¾” x 8½” (45 cm x 22 cm) excluding frame.
